This project is a one-page-comic based on the book 'The City We Became' by N.K. Jemisin. The scene I chose to highlight takes place during the climax of the story. For this comic, I wanted to have a 3D background with digitally drawn characters.
Since I had to be able to make pictures of every corner of the set, I attached two walls with hinges. That way, I could open and close the wall, depending on what corner of the set I needed to photograph.
The set base is made from wood and the details are mostly made out of clay or popsicle sticks.
After finishing the set, I photographed it and put it together in Photoshop. After some digital editing, I drew the characters in as the final step.
